30-Second Shooting Exercise

OBJECTIVE:

This exercise is excellent for requiring your keeper to make reaction saves and get back up off the ground quickly for the next shot.

DESCRIPTION:

Place a cone about 8 yards out from the goal and line up 8 - 10 balls in a line just inside the penalty area. Have a field player start next to the cone (facing away from the goal). On the coach's command, the player must sit down on the ground, quickly get back up, and sprint out to the first ball in the line of balls. He has 30 seconds to get off as many shots as possible. When the player gets to the first ball, he should take a touch forward and shoot, turn around to the next ball, touch it forward and shoot, etc., until he has either shot every ball or run out of time. The keeper must just keep him from scoring any way possible, and get up quickly to be ready for the next shot.
