Musical Balls for Goalkeepers
|

|
| OBJECTIVE: |
This exercise creates a fun, competitive game for your keepers while
focusing on the proper technique for picking up balls on the run and
sliding in to make 1v1 saves. |
| DESCRIPTION: |
Have your goalkeepers jog around in a square grid. Have
several balls scattered on the ground throughout the grid (one fewer
ball than the number of your keepers). When the coach says, "Now!", the
keepers should sprint to a ball and pick it up on the run. If two
keepers get their hands on the same ball at the same time, they should
attempt to wrestle it away from each other. The one keeper who doesn't
get a ball should sit out and do a specified number of push-ups or
sit-ups. Take one ball out now, and repeat. Play until you have one
winner. |
| VARIANT: |
Now perform the same exercise, but instead of having
the keepers pick the ball up on the run, require them to slide into the
ball to save it like a 1v1. |
