GK saves with a Distribution Gate

OBJECTIVE: This exercise gets your keeper practicing the proper technique for catching high, medium or low served balls (rolling) while working on his/her distribution skills.

DESCRIPTION: The coach serves high, medium or low height balls into the penalty area. The keeper should come out of his/her goal to catch the ball before it bounces, call for it, and save it. He/she should then immediately run and distribute it out to the gate (between the cones set up on the opposite side from the coach) by either bowling, throwing, punting, or drop-kicking it out. Be sure to serve balls from both sides and have the keeper distribute to both sides.
